Kaki King...Take Two

Another Kaki King painting. Sorry no work-in-progress shots...she's all finished. I've been working like mad to get paintings finished in time for Christmas. I have two to finish. I'm going to make it!

Triptych

Here is the work-in-progress of the triptych I'm working on for my brother. They are based on photographs he took while in Ireland.

Here's some close-up shots:

Worked on the Kaki King painting again last night. I think that with one more 2-4 hour session it will be complete!

3 New Paintings

I am currently working on a series of 6 8x10 in. paintings. I wanted to switch up my palette, which typically consists of umbers, ochres, and grays. I was inspired by my friend Thom’s concert photos from various shows like: Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Wilco, and the Mountain Goats/Kaki King. With the dramatic stage lighting, I felt that the photos would be an excellent point of departure to test out a new palette. I’m also studying works by Fauve and German Expressionist artists for palette ideas. I’ve only painted a few portraits, so I am somewhat intimidated by the subject matter. I just finished up the two Sonic Youth paintings on Monday. I just started the Kaki King painting Thursday night.

What do you guys think so far? Feedback is welcomed!
